Corrected a bug in the Spectrum version
Hi to all,
in a post, PopoCop made me aware of a problem that is an important bug in the Spectrum version of the game (v. 1.0):
If you try to drop an object, it vanishes instead of being left at the current room. Therefore, if you drop an important object, the game can become unsolvable as there is no way to get it back.Furthermore, this makes impossible to complete part 2, as a specific object has to be dropped at a certain place.
When I investigated the problem I found that this was due to a bug in the z88dk compiler, triggered by certains optimizations. The ZX Spectrum versions (now 1.0.3) are not affected by this bug anymore, so download them again if you plan to play (and finish) the game.
I think the same bug affects all the other versions of the game running on Z80 machines (CPC, MSX, CP/M, RC2014, Z88). I will try to update them as soon as possible.
If you want to know the details, I could discuss about the bug on the forum of the AMAZING z88dk compiler (a true gem), and it has been very swiftly corrected: https://z88dk.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=12036&sid=152214e79554d4caa873a5568a386e89
Cheers,
D.
